From organizing and editing your photos to uploading them online, Ashampoo Photo Commander 16 is a powerful weapon that gives you the ability to have full control over your images with only a few mouse clicks. The most recent version of Photo Commander (ver. 16) introduces new features (such as the ability to save your work as .psd, WEBP compatibility, new effects, etc.) and improves the existing ones for more convenience and better handling.
Installation
As soon as you launch the installer you’ll be prompted to choose the language you want to use during installation. Then the installation wizard will open and guide you through the whole procedure, which is very short and straightforward. In one of the steps, you’ll be asked whether you want to install Advanced Driver Updater, an additional advertised software. Check No, thank you to avoid installing it and proceed to the last step.
Supported operating systems are Windows XP (Service Pack 2), Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 (32/64-bit).
Interface
First-time users are greeted with a basic step-by-step wizard to help them make basic settings such as associate different file types with Photo Commander.
The main window is divided into 3 main parts: the Folder Area, the Content Area and the Preview Area.
The Folder Area is the pane located on the left side of the window and is the place where you select the directories in which the photos you want to edit are located. The Content Area is the area in the middle of the window, where all contained photos from the Folder Area are shown as thumbnails. The Preview Area displays a preview of a selected photo.
Double-clicking on a photo opens the editor, which has all the editing tools you need.

Ashampoo Photo Commander 16 has many powerful filters that you can use to search and find any image stored anywhere in your computer. The filters are located on top of the Content Area and can be used instantly. Your photos can also be organized by creating virtual photo albums and editing tags. Batch actions are supported too; for example you can batch convert files to another format, or rename them using various rules and filters. It’s incredibly easy to do so, plus it doesn’t even matter how many files you want to process at a time- Photo Commander 16 won’t back down a bit even when it has to deal with thousands of photos.
A new feature in the latest version of the Photo Commander is the smart photo importer, which automatically scans for photos located in a connected source device.
When the time to edit your photos comes, you should know that the software will not let you down. It has a wide variety of editing tools, including a lot of effects (Blur, Sharpen, Grayscale, Sepia, Soft Glow, Soft Blend, Vivid Colors, Pizelize, Dotted, Invert, X-ray and many others), contrast/color adjustment settings, automatic optimization tools, crop/selection tools, red-eye removal tool, etc. Chances are that you won’t need the help of any external software to edit a photo, since Photo Commander includes most tools that you’ll probably need.
In addition, there are features that allow you to send photos via email, create video slideshows, design and print greeting cards, upload photos and albums to Facebook/Picasa and burn photos to CD/DVD/Blu-ray.
